Truike Verdegaal’s latest jewellery collection
presented at Galerie Rob Koudijs,
Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
After ten years being out of the limelight Truike Verdegaal picks up her practice of making a coherent collection as she was used to do. Our waiting has been rewarded. In her new work Verdegaal approaches more layers - both practical as metaphorically speaking - in her surprisingly hybrid neo-baroque style. It is introversive, with highly refined details and materials.
Her brooches are expanding in a third dimension. They are about to conquer space. Imagine small dwellings or corners of attics being colonized by organic, embroidered structures.
Verdegaal created these “space shelters” after painting them first as a point of departure, as shown in this clip: And as always Verdegaals craftmanship is outstanding. The objects are presented in protective showcases.
